Report October - International Management
In the following document, I would like to give the detailed description of my first month in Würzburg. I am one of lucky students who were accepted to International Management taught in English at University of Applied Sciences Würzburg-Scweinfurt. Besides that, I got Scholarship for one semester.
I arrived to Würzburg on 19.09.2017. At that time, the most important thing was to find an apartment. It was impossible to find accommodation staying far away from Germany. There are web sites such as WG-Gesucht, Immobilien Scout 24 and many groups in Facebook, unfortunately nothing worked for me. However, I met some kind people from this city. We chat about a month when I was in Kyrgyzstan and one German girl decided to help me. The day I arrived my new friend met me at Central Railway Station. I stayed one week with her (of course for payment). During that week, I went to Studentenwerk several times and finally I got a room in students dormitory.
On 4th of October students who won scholarships were invited to official ceremony. All of us were very excited to meet team of International Office, to people who helped us during application to university, enrollment etc. It was one of the best days at FHWS, after official part of ceremony we had some drinks with traditional German snacks.
The same day before scholarship event there was an introduction day for International Management department students. There we got information such as where to find schedule, what’s E-Learning and Doodle, how to use them, which courses are mandatory and so on.
On first semester students have to have 30 credits, I think it wouldn’t be so difficult. Totaly we have 5 mandatory courses Economics, Business English, Mathematics and Statistics, General Business and Intercultural Training. Some days later, we had an excursion to Strasbourg. Strasbourg is the capital and largest city of the Grand Est region of France. Located close to the border with Germany. Strasbourg is the seat Council of Europe, of the European Court of Human Rights and of the European Parliament where sit 751 members and do their job. A lot of people also consider Strasbourg to be the capital of the European Union. Strasbourg Cathedral one of the most popular places visited by tourists. It was built in 16th century. Other places such as Strasbourg Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art, Palais Rohan and others are wonderful. In the center of city you hear French melody, speech, this atmosphere makes you happy. Next day of our trip was to Luxemburg. Luxembourg is a landlocked country in western Europe. Together with Brussels and Strasbourg, one of the three official capitals of the European Union and the seat of the European Court of Justice, the highest juridical authority in the EU. Its culture, people and languages are highly intertwined with its neighbor counties, making it essentially a mixture of French and German cultures. View from bridges in Luxemburg is amazing. On the third day of trip we drove to Trier. Trier is a city at the Moselle River in Rhineland-Palatinate in Germany. This city is famous for some Roman buildings like the Porta Nigra and others. It is famous as the birthplace of Karl Marx. Trier is also famous for the wine of the wine-growing-region Mosel-Saar-Ruwer. Evenings we didn’t waste time, we walked around cities and visited sightseeings, museums, local bars and restaurants, bought souvenirs for our families and friends. Goal of this excursion was to show students some of European Union Institutes.
I never had a feeling of grudge that I study at FHWS. I enjoy studying here and recommend undergraduate students to apply to University of Applied Sciences Würzburg-Schweinfurt.
