International students in the robotics program

Studying Abroad

Study abroad periods require timely and thorough preparation. During planning you must be clear about the time and length of the study abroad period, as well as the choice of country, host university, as well as your command of foreign languages.

THWS stands in contact with over 230 partner universities worldwide. The faculties' international affairs officers will gladly advise and support you in choosing your host university as well as your courses.

You should plan about a year in advance for the organisation of your stay abroad.

Please also note the information about Visas and Health Certificates. There you will also find important information on mobilities from 2021 to the United Kingdom.

Applications for a place at one of the THWS partner universities are open as follows:

15 Dec to 31 Jan for a stay in the following winter semester
01 May to 30 Jun for a stay in the following summer semester

Basic rule: The stay abroad must be planned thoroughly and well in advance. The question of funding is a very important aspect in this. There are numerous support and funding possibilities. In the following, we will introduce the most important ones:

Information about these programmes is available below in the sections Studying in EU countries and Studying in non-EU countries.
Details on further financing possibilities are available from the page on Financing Options. See also the page Erasmus+ for more information on this programme.

When preparing your stay abroad, please get information about your host university. You are required to independently find out information about the study programmes, language requirements (required level, language certificates) and accommodation options. Use the host university's website or the information for exchange students provided by its International Office.

If you want to read in advance about experiences of THWS students abroad, have a look at our Europe Diaries or browse the experience reports you find at the partner universities.

For the transfer of credits (including Diploma Supplement), please contact your examination committee after you returned to THWS providing the application for credit transfer, the entire Learning Agreement and as well as a transcript of records from your host university. If you have questions on the procedure of credit transfer within your degree programme, please contact the responsible member of staff at the Department of Student Affairs (HSST).
