Formalities and Finances
Würzburg and Schweinfurt are fantastic locations to study abroad – also for financial reasons. Life in Franconia is cheaper than in other parts of Germany. However, you will still need to plan for certain fixed costs for your studies at THWS. The most important costs are detailed below.
Tuition fees
An application fee of 50€ is payable for each application.
Tuition fees amount to 750€ per semester for Bachelor’s programmes and 1,000€ per semester for Master’s programmes.
The following services are included in the tuition fees for non-EU students:
- Free language courses
- Support on arrival and at the start of your studies
- Skills for a successful transition from university to working life
The fees apply to students who enrol at THWS from the 2027/28 winter semester onwards (including those changing degree programmes). Students who are already studying at THWS and remain in their current degree programme are not affected by the fees.
Further information will follow in the coming weeks.
All students from Germany or EU countries do not pay tuition fees, but only a small administrative fee. This currently amounts to:
- €182.10 if they are based in Würzburg and
- €117.70 if they are based in Schweinfurt.
This fee includes your semester ticket, which entitles you to free use of the local public transport system in the city where your degree programme is based without incurring any additional costs during the whole semester.

Monthly costs
Additional costs arise for health insurance, accommodation, and living costs. FHWS students can expect the following average monthly costs:
