About the university

The Technical University of Applied Sciences Würzburg-Schweinfurt is a state university that looks back on over 200 years of history. There are more than 9,000 students and 200 professors at our two sites in Würzburg and Schweinfurt, which are situated approximately 40 kilometres apart.

THWS offers practical, future-oriented study options with more than 40 degree programmes within ten different facilities and six research institutes. We guarantee degree qualifications that are recognised the world over. As part of the unique new THWS i-Campus concept, we have also offered bachelor’s degree programmes in English as so-called “twin programmes” since the winter semester 2014/15.

At THWS, teaching takes place in small study groups with an excellent student-teacher ratio. While frequent seminar papers teach students to work independently, project work helps to develop students’ team skills.

Professors affording sound professional experience gained in industry and business impart applied scientific knowledge with a particularly practical emphasis. Teaching take place in modern lecture rooms and laboratories featuring innovative technology and state-of-the-art equipment.

The university cooperates closely with businesses in the region and across the country. Students already benefit from this close cooperation during their studies through periods of practical training and the opportunity to write their dissertation at a company. This in turn allows them to begin developing their network for their future career.
