Incoming short-term stays (BIPs)

Short-term stays for students can be arranged at THWS through Erasmus+ Blended Intensive Programmes (BIPs).*

Blended Intensive Programmes consist of short, intensive, and collaborative curricula and activities, allowing students to take part in a brief physical group mobility experience alongside a virtual component. The emphasis is on international collaboration and exchange. Participants in BIPs will gain skills that are valuable for their studies or careers while also enhancing their intercultural and/or foreign language abilities.

Is your home university involved in a BIP with an on-site phase at THWS? Here’s how you can apply to participate.

*Information on short-term stays as part of staff mobility can be found here

To be eligible for a short-term stay as part of a Blended Intensive Programme at THWS, you must be enrolled as a full-time student at one of our partner universities. Agreements between the participating institutions ensure that appropriate high-quality lectures are offered and can be credited towards your home university.

Participation in a BIP at THWS is not possible without an Erasmus+ exchange agreement between your home university and THWS.

A nomination from your home university is required to participate in a BIP at THWS. Therefore, please first contact the BIP coordinator or the International Office at your home university.

BIPs for the academic year 2024/25 at THWS

BIP contents

Students experience real, climate-related (economic) challenges in fictitious roles and companies and develop strategies to protect themselves from the negative effects of climate change and to recognize opportunities. The simulation game has three main objectives: 1) to increase participants' motivation to deal with climate change and to convey and apply what they have learned and discovered in business practice 2) to enable participants to derive their own tailor-made adaptation concepts within the company and to develop an awareness of the necessary measures 3) to increase understanding of the interrelationships and basic concepts of climate change and global impacts.

The simulation game is played with 25 students (teams of 3-4 people) who play the game with a moderator (lecturer) and choose one of the fictitious companies located in a fictitious game region that is a climate change hot spot. The groups develop strategies to achieve a good balance between economic and environmental requirements and have an individual budget. The companies win if they achieve a high score on their individual focus KPIs, which also corresponds to a high level of maturity.
