Three good reasons
Study contents
The three-semester master's degree programme Applied Mathematics and Physics at THWS and TH Nürnberg combines mathematics and physics with practical projects under the motto "research-based learning". In the first two semesters, you will deepen your specialist knowledge and work in interdisciplinary project teams. The third semester is dedicated to the master's thesis, in which you work on a scientific question. The modules are offered as lectures, practical courses, and practice projects.
Programme structure
Degree programme offered by THWS and TH Nürnberg
The master's degree programme Applied Mathematics and Physics is offered by THWS in cooperation with TH Nürnberg. Thanks to the cooperation between the two universities, you have a larger number of subjects and individual specialisations to choose from.
Foundation phase (1st and 2nd semester)
In the first two semesters, you will deepen your knowledge of mathematics and physics and expand your skills in scientific work. In addition to theoretical lectures and seminars, practical application plays a central role: in interdisciplinary projects, you will work with mathematical models and simulations to solve complex problems from research and industry. The close integration of theory and practice prepares you optimally for demanding professional challenges.
Final phase (3rd semester)
In the 3rd semester, you will work independently on a scientific issue in your master's thesis. The work is often carried out in cooperation with companies or research institutions and enables you to apply your theoretical knowledge to practical problems. The focus is on research-based learning, mathematical modelling, and innovative solutions. The master's thesis demonstrates your ability to apply mathematical concepts to solve complex challenges and to present your results in a scientifically sound manner.
Specialisations
The master's degree programme Applied Mathematics and Physics offers you the opportunity to customise your studies. By specialising, you will expand your knowledge in future-oriented areas. The interdisciplinary focus enables you to apply mathematical models in a practice-oriented way and to specialise specifically for your future career.
