Three good reasons
Study contents
The 8-semester programme is divided in fundamental studies, specialisation studies, an internship semester and a bachelor's thesis. Prior to or during the first two semesters, you complete a pre-study internship in which you start developing and applying practical knowledge.
At THWS, you will learn how to put fundamental theoretical concepts into practice. In the bachelor's programme Architecture, you will develop all the creative and technical skills required for the job. The programme is complemented by knowledge of the social, economic, and sustainable aspects of the work as an architect.
Programme structure
Basic studies (1st to 4th semester)
In the 1st semester, also called orientation semester, you will develop fundamental architectural knowledge. The subsequent three semesters of the foundation studies are focused on design and construction in all scales. The design and construction subjects are complemented by technical, organisational, and ecological basic modules. Interdisciplinary thinking is promoted and applied and developed in exercises and workshops. The projects link sustainable urban construction with house construction.
Internship semester: 5th semester
In the internship semester scheduled for the 5th semester, you gain valuable practical experience and gain insights into everyday work. You can complete your internship semester in Germany or abroad. The internship is an integral part of your education at THWS and aims to promote individual experiences.
Project studies: 6th and 7th semester
This phase focuses on integrative work based on complex tasks. Through our electives you can specialise individually. The model workshop and a building services lab form an important basis for a state-of-the-art and practice-oriented education. Field trips, visits to construction sites and companies will add to your experiences, which is why these are integral components of the THWS curriculum.
Bachelor's thesis (8th semester):
In the 8th semester you work on your bachelor's thesis. Building on your theoretical knowledge, the internship, and the practical projects, you may choose from a given topic or choose a topic yourself. After successful completion of the bachelor's thesis and the degree programme, you will be awarded the title Bachelor of Engineering (B.Eng.).
