In the THWS bachelor's degree programme Business Administration, you will receive a broad education in all areas of business administration like controlling, human resources, and marketing. You will develop problem-solving, analytical, and essential soft skills and will benefit from the high share of practice. The German-taught bachelor's degree programme Business Administration is conceptualised as a TWIN programme. The THWS bachelor's programme International Management is the English-taught version of this degree programme. You may also choose to just take some modules in English and still receive a TWIN certificate.

Study contents

The 7-semester programme constitutes of basis studies, an internship semester, and specialisation studies. It cumulates in the bachelor's thesis. In the first four semesters you complete 24 mandatory modules. The internship semester usually takes place in the 5th semester. In the 6th and 7th semester, you can choose two of 16 specialisation modules (SP). You will write your bachelor's thesis in the 7th semester. The programme consists of basics of economics and business administration (20 %), commercial basics (10 %), basics and tools of the function of business administration (15 %), specialisations (15 %), major (25 %), and practice (15 %).

1: Foundation phase (1st to 4th semester)

In the first four semesters, you will develop basic knowledge of business administration. These fundamental modules include lectures in mathematics and statistics, general business administration, accounting and balancing, microeconomics, marketing, controlling, labour law, business English and many more. As the bachelor's degree programme Business Administration is a double degree programme, it offers you the opportunity of obtaining two bachelor's degrees. You may apply for the double degree programme during the first two semesters. The special characteristic: you spend two semesters at a partner university.

2: Internship semester (5th semester)

The internship semester is scheduled after the lecture and examination period of the 4th semester. You complete the full-time internship in a company of your choice, which will optimally prepare you for your career start. Close cooperation and partnerships with local, national, and international companies offer you almost unlimited options for your internship.

3: Specialisation (6th and 7th semester):

In the specialisation phase, you choose two of the 16 offered specialisation modules to deepen your expert knowledge and specialise further. In-depth practice and application-oriented lectures and practical courses complement the theoretical offers.

4: Final semester (7th semester)

The bachelor’s programme concludes with a bachelor’s thesis, in which you can work on a practice-oriented problem and can put your knowledge and skills into practice. After completing your studies, you will have in-depth specialist knowledge as well as the necessary practical experience and specialist knowledge to succeed in a company.

In the bachelor's degree programme Business Administration, 16 different specialisation modules are offered, of which you choose two. This offers you the opportunity to choose an individual focus area and already embark on your future career path during your studies. From the 6th semester, you can choose from the following modules:

Students can also choose from our general elective modules (AWPM). These enable you to specialise further.

Practice-orientation

Studies at THWS are characterised by a high degree of practice-orientation and the internship semester. Depending on the chosen degree programme, the internship semester is scheduled for the 5th or 6th semester. The internship semester offers you the chance to complete an internship with a company of your choice and gain insights into the professional world. That way you can apply the theoretical and practical knowledge developed during your studies in the work environment you are most interested in.

Requirement for admission to the Technical University of Applied Sciences Würzburg-Schweinfurt is a valid general higher education entrance qualification (Abitur), a subject-specific higher education entrance qualification (fachgebundene Hochschulreife), an advanced technical college certificate (Fachhochschulreife), a general/subject-specific entrance qualification for qualified professionals, or a comparable qualification from abroad (HZB, university entrance qualification).
