Blog entry 4 - A trip to Sweden

October is ending and the last few days were very busy. During the fall break, I welcomed some visitors from home. We booked a hotel room in Copenhagen, so that we would have more time to go sightseeing. In addition, I treated myself with a fancy hotel breakfast, which was a nice change from life in the residence :).

Since Copenhagen has excellent connections to the long-distance traffic, we went over to Malmö, Sweden. The city is located just on the other side of the bridge, which connects Denmark and Sweden. You can also go by rental car, but only if you are 25 or older, so this wasn‘t an option for us. The train ride costs 91 DKK (with Rejsekort). There might be a passport check once you reach Sweden.

Malmö really is a cute city, but not very big, so sightseeing does not take too long. We also went outside of town, because I wanted to see the ocean. The view is fantasticJ. There is also a beach, where you can go swimming if the weather is nice. Malmö is a great place to shop, since the Swedish krona has a better exchange rate than the Danish krone (10 Swedish krona are 1 euro, which also makes it easier to convert) :).

Malmö has both, historic and modern streets, but it was never too crowded, even though we came on a Saturday. I also liked the architecture of the city.

After we went back to Copenhagen, we walked through the pedestrian zone, which is called Strøget. It is Copenhagen’s shopping street with shops like H&M, Zara, Topshop, but also Prada, Louis Vuitton and Gucci.

The week went by so fast, and now I am back to university. Luckily, there are a few extended weekends ahead and we are planning some more trips, perhaps Stockholm or Oslo or some other cities close to Roskilde. I am looking forward to it. Also, I can’t wait to see, what Christmas time is going to be like :).
