Report January - International Management
In this following document, I would like to explain you how was my first month in 2018.
As I come from the post-Soviet Union country, Kyrgyzstan, we have a tradition to celebrate this holiday with our families and relatives. Unfortunately, I couldn’t visit my family. I’m in Germany almost one and half year and met a lot of people from my country. There is one very nice young family with small and sweet child living in Baden-Württemberg, Mannheim. They invited me to celebrate New Year with them. I was glad for invitation. It was one of unforgettable holidays in my life. Although my family is very far away from me, we had so nice atmosphere together. I think students who live in other countries without parents can understand this feeling, meeting compatriots. Staying few days in Mannheim, I have missed Würzburg. I feel myself comfortable in this city, like living for a long time here, hereto my nice room in university’s dormitory.
After arriving lectures started. Already it was time to start preparing for exams. All lecturers said one month will pass very fast, not to lose time and be ready for exams. And they were right. As I’m first semester student I was very excited. There were a lot of questions in my head, such as how exams are look like, where are they taking place, how much time we have, what kind of materials are allowed to use. Thanks to higher semester students, who make tutorials every week, for explaining everything in details and answering all our questions. I think it’s really good idea to provide tutorials on different topics for international students, that helped me a lot.
International Management department first semester students have to pass four exams. Each exam includes two subjects. Seems very difficult but all they are relatively to each other. “If you fail an examination, it means you have not yet master the subject. With diligent study and understanding, you will succeed in passing the exams,” said a founder of Smart Youth Volunteers Foundation Lailah Gifty Akita. That means you have to study hard to pass an exam, read a lot, find extra information concerning exact topic. I spend most of my time in libraries, there you can find any book and the thing I like most: there are students who study there and it motivated me. Nobody and nothing divert your attention, fully concentrated on learning.
During January I visited dentist. Doctors are very nice and speak English as well. If you have governmental health insurance, there will be any problems. This is one more thing that I like in Germany. Any time you can contact your doctor, make an appointment and (almost) all will be covered by health insurance.
January past very fast and all exams already written. Now I’m excited and waiting for results… Looking forward to share my experience next month.
