The seven-semester degree programme Digital Rescue Management at THWS offers an extensive and structured education. In the 6th semester, students choose additional focus areas. The high share of practical work and the internship semester offer you the chance to gain first practical impressions. Studies at THWS thus offer a well-balanced combination of the theoretical basis and important practical experience.

1: Foundation phase (1st to 4th semester)

In the first semesters, you lay the foundations. The focus is placed on modules like business administration, health organisations, medical-scientific basics, fundamentals of organisational and innovation management in the emergency and health sector, and fundamentals of rescue sciences. You also develop basic knowledge and skills in the fields of health economics and HR management in health organisations. You will also learn about the legal and institutional framework conditions in the rescue system, as well as important basics of medical technology and telemedicine. At a later stage, you will attend modules concerned with financing, controlling, project and process management in the clinical and pre-clinical context, emergency medicine, and fundamentals of crisis and disaster management. Digital technologies and applications, and mathematics and statistics become relevant.

2: Internship semester (5th semester)

The 5th semester is intended as the internship semester. You spend the full-time internship in a company of your choice, which will make for a successful career start. Thanks to our close cooperation with partner universities all around the world, and with local and national partner companies, you have a wide variety to choose from.

3: Specialisation studies (6th semester)

In the 6th semester, you choose two specialisations and write your bachelor's thesis. For your specialisation, you choose two general elective modules (AWPM) and two core elective modules (FWPM). For your bachelor's thesis, you work on a practice-oriented research question. In this process, you may apply the knowledge and skills developed in your studies.

4: Final semester (7th semester)

In the final semester, you develop more important know-how for your career in rescue management: e.g., risk management and quality development, interprofessional and intercultural work, leadership and tactics for specific missions.

Different specialisations are offered for the bachelor's degree programme Digital Rescue Management. From the 6th semester onwards, you choose your individual focus and thus already embark on your future career path during your studies. Over the course of the programme, students complete 33 mandatory modules and specialisations of their choice. Two general elective modules (AWPM) and two core elective modules (FWPM) must be chosen respectively.

Students can also choose from our general elective modules (AWPM). These enable you to specialise further.

Depending on the chosen degree programme, the internship semester is scheduled for the 5th or 6th semester.
