Three good reasons
Study contents
The 7-semester degree programme is divided into a foundation phase, a specialisation phase, an internship semester, and a bachelor's thesis. The degree programme Electrical Engineering and Information Technology at THWS combines fundamental theoretical concepts with the practical application of hard- and software. The high share of practice and the internship semester, in which you can already gain first insights into the working world, serve to offer you a well-balanced mix of fundamental theory and important practical experience.
Programme structure
1: Foundation phase (1st to 3rd semester)
During the first three semesters you will be introduced to the foundations of electrical engineering and electronics, including circuit theory, electrical components, mathematics, and physics. In the field of information technology or computer science, you will acquire basic knowledge of programming, algorithms, and data structures, as well as the design and construction of microprocessors. Mathematical and scientific fundamentals for engineers are also taught in the foundation phase conveying the basics of technical mechanics and materials science.
2: Specialisation phase (3rd to 6th semester)
In the specialisation phase, you choose one of the offered specialisations to broaden your specialist knowledge and skills. In-depth practical lab courses and application-oriented lectures and exercise courses complement the theory.
3: Internship semester (6th semester)
After the 6th semester, you complete a 20-week internship in a company of your choice. The full-time internship aims to optimally prepare you for your later career. Thanks to our close cooperation with the local and national industry and the great number of partner universities abroad, you have a wide variety to choose from.
4: Final semester (7th semester)
The bachelor's degree programme concludes with a bachelor's thesis, in which you can work on a practice-oriented problem and can put your knowledge and skills into practice. After completing your studies, you will have in-depth specialist knowledge as well as the necessary practical experience and specialist knowledge for a successful career.
