Intercultural Management Summer School (IMSS) (Bangkok)
General Information
The Intercultural Management Summer School (IMSS) is a joint academic project of the Rajamangala University of Technology Phra Nakhon and the Technische Hochschule Würzburg-Schweinfurt. International students from Thailand, Bhutan, China, and Germany work together in intercultural teams and gain insights into international management as well as intercultural communication. The academic programme is complemented by company visits, excursions, and cultural activities.
Target Group
The Summer School is aimed at international students aged 18 and above who are interested in:
- International Management
- Intercultural collaboration
- International projects and teamwork
- Thai culture and business environment
The number of participants is limited to 20 students.

ECTS / Credit Transfer
- 6 ECTS credits correspond to 3 graduate Thai credits
- For students of THWS and RMUTP, credits are fully recognised
Recognition for THWS Students
Study Programme BIM
- 100% transferable to the module “Business Simulation”
Study Programme BMM
- 100% transferable to Module 21 “International and Intercultural Communication”
Study Programme BBW
- 100% transferable to the subject “Business Game” in Module 23 “Business Administration”
Students from other THWS faculties may be able to transfer the credits as FWPF or AWPF. Recognition should be clarified in advance with the respective programme coordinator.
Students from other universities must check whether their home university recognises the credits. A Learning Agreement must be signed in advance for credit transfer.
Costs
Programme Fee
1,200 €
Not included:
- Flights to Thailand
- Personal leisure expenses
- Additional costs due to unforeseen events (e.g. PCR tests, individual transfers, or single accommodation)

- Bus and boat transportation in Thailand
- Accommodation in hotels in Bangkok and on Koh Samet
- Official meals according to the programme
Accommodation is generally in double rooms. Single rooms are available for an additional €70 per night.

Participation requirements
Students are required to attend lectures regularly and actively participate in case studies, group work, and discussions. Active participation in company visits and field trips is also expected. Students must arrive on time and remain present during sessions unless otherwise arranged with the lecturers. Students who are absent more than three times without valid excuse will fail the course.

The cultural programme includes, among others:

- Wat Pho
- Ayutthaya
- Thai cooking sessions
- Excursion to Koh Samet
In addition to the official programme, there is time for independent exploration of Bangkok and Thailand.
Payment
The programme fee is paid in two instalments:
- Enrolment fee: €600 (non-refundable)
- Remaining fee: €600 by 15 July 2026
Participation Conditions
- Minimum age: 18 years
- Valid health insurance required
- Participants are responsible for complying with Thai entry regulations (e.g. visa, TDAC)
- Participation is at own risk
- Programme is subject to change
