MATLAB Summer School
General Information
In this Summer School, students travel to Tartu, Estonia, to the Estonian University of Life Sciences. There, students learn basic functions in MATLAB. It is a beginner course lasting 2 weeks.
Target Group
The MATLAB course is especially aimed at students of the following study programs:
- BAMD – Bachelor Applied Mathematics
- BAME – Bachelor Applied Mathematics
- BBW – Bachelor Business Administration
- BIN – Bachelor Computer Science
- BWT – Bachelor Hydrogen Technology
- BWTT – Bachelor Hydrogen Technology Transnational (Jordan)
All THWS study programs may also participate in the MATLAB course.

Content
• Matrix operations in MATLAB:
- Addition and subtraction of matrices
- Matrix multiplication
- Determinant of a matrix
- Inverse matrix calculation
• Vector operations in MATLAB:
- Magnitude of a vector
- Unit vector
- Dot product, cross product, and scalar triple product
• Differentiation in MATLAB:
- Derivatives using the Symbolic Math Toolbox
- Finding maxima, minima, and inflection points
• Integration in MATLAB:
- Symbolic integration of indefinite integrals
- Definite integrals
• Solving differential equations in MATLAB:
- First-order differential equations
- First-order differential equations with initial conditions
- Second-order differential equations
- Second-order differential equations with two initial conditions
