Discover the Spanish language and culture - in the 2024 summer programme at the Catholic University of Avila in Spain

The Institute of Spanish Language and Culture will be held at the Universidad Católica de Ávila (UCAV) from June 30 – July 25, 2025.

Courses Offered (4 credits each):

  • Spanish Language, 6 levels
  • Survey of Spanish Literature / Literary Criticism
  • Spanish Culture and Civilization, 3 levels
  • Business Spanish, 2 levels
  • Spanish Mysticism, 2 levels
  • Medical Spanish, 2 levels
  • Pastoral Spanish

Intensive Spanish Language Courses

In addition, from June 16 – 27, 2025, UCAV will offer intensive Spanish language courses at Beginning Spanish I & II and Intermediate Spanish I & II levels (4 credits each).

Special Course Highlight

Students have a unique opportunity to take Introduction to Spanish Mysticism, taught by recognized scholars. This course, available in both Spanish and English, covers selected writings of Saint Teresa of Avila and Saint John of the Cross.

 

Program Costs (2025):

  • 790 euros: One 4-credit course (includes textbooks and teaching materials)
  • 300 euros: Excursion program (Salamanca, Segovia, Alba de Tormes, El Escorial)
  • 900 – 1050 euros: University residences (room & board)
