The Universidad Católica de Ávila or UCAV was founded in 1996 by the Diocese of Avila. The goal of the UCAV is to prepare students for their professional careers by offering programs of academic excellence and also to provide students with a solid intellectual preparation in Christian Humanism. The university is situated overlooking the medieval walls of Avila. The city itself has been designated a World Heritage Monument and sits atop the high Castilian plateau with the Zapatero and Gredos mountains in the distance. In the past, students have greatly enjoyed their time spent in this historic place. For many of them, this summer program at the UCAV has been a unique and life changing experience.
